Mexican pianist. In 1985 entered the National Conservatory
of Music, in Mexico City, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree
as a pianist. He studied piano with Miguel Angel Bustos for one
year and Raúl de la Mora, pupil of the excellent Chilian
pianist Claudio Arrau, for eight years. He also he studied opera
singing with Professor Enrique Jaso and Chamber Music with Professor
Leopoldo Téllez. He took piano master classes with Kurt Redel
(Musical Interpretation), Jörg Demus, Bernard Flavigny, Mauricio
Nader, Philipp Lorenz and Germán Diéz (N.Y. U.S.A.);
the last two being musical assistants of Claudio Arrau.
Héctor Ocampo has performed throughout Mexico, principally
in the states of Baja California Sur, Campeche, Coahuila, Chiapas,
Distrito Federal, Durango, Guerrero, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco,
Michoacán, Morelos, Estado de México, Oaxaca, Puebla,
Quintana Roo, Querétaro, Sonora, Tlaxcála, Veracruz
and Yúcatan, in many of the most prestigious concert halls
and theatres, as well as for many institutions including: The National
Council of Culture and Arts, The National Institute of Fine Arts,
The National University of Mexico (UNAM) Cultural Promotion, The
Federal District of Mexico City, The Cultural Institute of Michoacan
State, The Cultural Institute of Guerrero State, The National Volunteer
of State Morelos and The Heroic City Hall of Orizaba, as well as
for independent cultural associations and many others.
He has also participated in diverse festivals, such as: The XII
Jornadas Alarconianas, The LXII National Fair of the Silver, The
Spring Festival of Oaxaca, The VI International Piano Festival White
and Black, The International Festival of the Historic City in Campeche,
and The International Festival Cervantino Baroque and others.
He has played as a soloist with more than ten Orchestras, including
inter alia: The Coyoacán Symphony Orchestra, The Michoacán
State Symphony Orchestra, The Mexico City Chamber Orchestra and
The Michoacán University Chamber Orchestra of St. Nicolas
from Hidalgo and The Chamber Orchestra of Cuajimalpa, just to mention
a few. He worked with the conductors Leopoldo Téllez, Miguel
Bernal Matus, Emmanuel Arias y Luna, Jorge Delezé, Alfredo
Ibarra and others. In addition he has participed in several live
programs on the Mexican and Swiss radio and television.
In 1988 he started playing piano four hands duett with pianist
Raúl de la Mora (Orchestral and Recital).
During his carrier he has received several awards and diplomas
for his performances and his artistic merit. Particulary worthy
of mention is the honourary citizenship of the famous tourist resort
city of Acapulco, Guerrero awarded in 1999 to him.
He has played in Europe with great acclaim. In Switzerland, betwen
2000 and 2006, giving solo and duet piano and organ recitals and
singing and piano concerts in the citys of Aarau, Büttikon,
Erlenbach and Zürich, always receiving excellent press reviews.
He also participed at musical activities in Barcelona, Spain and
Bolzano, Italy.
In early 1999 he recorded a compact disc with Swiss financing.
It includes, music of E. Grieg and M. M. Ponce, which is on sale
in Mexico and Europe. In 2005, as a member of the Chamber Orquestra
of Mexico City's soloists sextet, he participated in a recording.
Since 1995 has been the main pianist of the Mexico-City Chamber
Orchestra, were he also play organ and harpsichord. He is also pianist
of the Chamber Orchestra of Cuajimalpa (since 2002) and invited
member of the Sadko Group (since 2001), activities that combine
with his work as professor in private lessons and in the National
Conservatory of Music of Mexico City, passing on the pianistic heritage
of the excellent pianist Claudio Arrau to his talented students.
Currently his giving concerts in Mexico and further performances
are planed in Europe.
